A community-driven network for navigating Data Science and Machine Learning

About Us

DataCan Network is a multi-disciplinary group of professionals and students. Together, we share the latest trends of and career opportunities in the fields of Data Science and Machine Learning. Our goal is to connect passionate people at all stages through a comprehensive program of informal and technical activities, including career fairs, invited talks, tutorial workshops, panel discussions, and more.

History

We started as a small team of student and alumni volunteers from the University of British Columbia in 2019. Since then, we have organized the annual Women in Data Science Vancouver conference every year.

In May 2021, the WiDS Vancouver conference moved online as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic. That is when we recognized the need to expand and serve the broader community. So, in the same year, we hosted our first virtual career fair under the new organization DataCan Meetup, where we accepted resumes for all applicants.

Moving forward, we will continue to host the annual Women in Data Science Vancouver conference. At the same time, we are committed and excited to organize more events for our diverse community under the new organization, DataCan Network.
